Congratulations to Sherri Myers!
by James Turner on 11/06/10
Congratulations to Councilwoman-Elect Sherri Myers! Ms. Myers was recently elected to represent District 2 on the Pensacola City Council. In the District 2 race, Myers, a Democrat, an attorney and an advocate for those with disabilities, beat Courtney Peterson, a Republican health insurance adviser and benefits consultant.
Myers has spent most of her legal career fighting for the civil rights of battered women, rape victims, the homeless, disabled residents, inmates with HIV and fair housing.
District 2 can expect an advocate on the Council who will bring many great ideas to help the City of Pensacola. She speaks passionately about protecting the environment, addressing poverty, creating more pedestrian/bicycle facilities, fostering greener forms of transit, and promoting the uptown area.
